Dewback Wing is a Wing in name only. The Fleet considers the Dewbacks as one squadron. However Pappy's ability to acquire ships and equipment (by hook or by crook) has allowed a mere squadron to expand it's numbers many times beyond what he started with. His ability to "work the system" has allowed him to create a very unique command structure.
This is the reason he is not under the command of a Carrier's Captain and why he only has the rank of Commander. The Squadrons within Dewback Wing are actually more like divisions (flights). |
