An hour had passed since Gwen had visited him, or at least, the last time he remembered Gwen being there. There had been a lot of things to think about while he was floating alone in the tank, between the moments of pain and waking dreams.

The Medical Droids, their programming assessing the situation, had taken him out of the tank on the third day, after the bacta had mostly sealed and cleansed the wound. No more was to be gained by keeping Jay in the solution and, after a small surgical procedure to close the small hole that remained and the application of some bacta salve, he was moved to Post-Op, to be kept for a few more hours under observation.

His lungs, the right one seared by the blaster bolt, had made a complete recovery, but his shoulder was a different story. The scaring on his skin would never go away, and the joint, having had to be partially re-built in the tank, was going to be very stiff for a long time. He was going to have to hit the gym after this one.

The tank, having been "notified" that he was to be moved, had put him under for the operation. It made the pain of the transfer and the mini-surgery, that the droids had done, non-existent.

He opened his eyes. He was lying on his back in Post-Op, there was a table next to him with a small chrono on it. The date underneath the numbers informed him that he had been under for the better part of a day. He shook his head slightly in surprise, and looked again...yup....no mistake. It seemed like longer.

He tried to move, only to groan and lay back down. There seemed to be a sandcrawler sitting on his shoulder. He rotated the joint slowly, wincing in pain. At least he could breath correctly, that was a big plus. He grinned, despite his current state. It could have been worse, he could have lost the arm.
Gonna have to hit the gym man..cant fly a fighter in this state...especially not something as touchy as the V's........wonder what happened to Sparky?

His musing was interrupted by the floor nurse, who would be, judging by the time, just coming on duty, relieving the previous one from the midwatch. She pushed the curtain that surrounded his bed, and every other bed in the ward, away as she entered his "room."

"Ah! Good to see you awake sir. It was touch and go there for a while. Anything I can bring you?" He thought for a moment......"a lum and coke would be good....." She smiled and shook her head as he added..."but a water would do nicely as a substitute."

"I'll have that brought to you sir." She smiled once again as she went about doing what she had come to do, and after checking the IV drip and the bacta salve underneath the flexible dressing covering his shoulder, she departed to get the water.

She returned a few moments later, glass of the liquid in her hand. Smiling at him again, she made a quick notation on her datapad than moved away after telling him that he would be released by Medical for but needed to come in for routine checks for the next few days...."so they could make sure he was OK." Jay sighed, she was WAY to cheerful.

I wonder what the others are up too?

An ensign walked into Itchy's room, saluted sharply, and then held out a datapad. "Orders for you, sir. You're to report to Major Si's office immediately."

The sound of someone knocking on the bulkhead next to his curtain caused Jay to roll over. Muttering something, almost inaudible, about inconsiderate people. He pulled back the curtain surrounding his rack.

An ensign was standing there, and he snapped quickly to attention as Jay poked his head out. "Can I help you son......?" Jay asked sweetly, just a hint of the "this better be gorram fraking important" seeping through.

The boy smiled nervously. "Orders for you, sir. You're to report to Major Si's office immediately." He saluted sharply...quite forgetting that one doesn't salute indoors....children, handed Jay the datapad, and quickly scuttled out of Medical.

Jay lay back on the pillow and sighed. Major Si?? Archangel Squadron? What in the sphincter hell does she want? Better go find out....

Swinging himself over to sit on the edge of the bed, he slipped on a pair of the hospital scrubs that had been left out for him, wincing slightly. Checking out with the Nurse on duty and showing her the orders, he was cleared to venture to the Major's office.
